Historical memory of the Prauchner family

History

Introduction to the historical and genealogical memory project of the Prauchner family.

Based on research, documents and memories organised by Nelson Prauchner. A project for the historical and genealogical preservation of the Prauchner family.

The word “family” awakens one of the deepest feelings of attachment in human existence. To know our origins, the development of our family, where our relatives are and how they live are thoughts that inhabit our imagination.

The Prauchner family has its own history, and it is this history that I seek to organise with the help of technology and, fundamentally, with the participation of all interested people. This website has that purpose.

For me, it is both pleasurable and gratifying to carry forward this initiative, which arose from conversations with relatives during the Prauchner gathering in 2002, at the Linha 6 festival in Ijuí, the place where the Brazilian chapter of the family history began.

I count on the participation of all those interested in adding information or correcting possible errors.

I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this endeavour so far by providing data, photographs and documents that support this work.

Special thanks are due to Arnildo Eickhoff, who began collecting data for the construction of our family tree; to Alfredo Prauchner, guardian of the largest collection of old photographs and documents, which he kindly made available; and also to my daughter, the journalist Letícia Prauchner, for collecting documents and for the many hours of research in public archives.
